At LP Center, Chief Fansler Speaks on Active Shooters

Lake Placid CenterLake Placid Police Chief James Fansler will make a presentation on active shooters and how to protect oneself on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 6 p.m., in Room 124, Building 100, at the Lake Placid Center. The presentation will last about one hour, with a question and answer session to follow.  All SFSC students and staff, as well as the general public, are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Linda Tagesson at ext. 7085.

“We had some folks from Highlands County who were present at the recent [active shooter] event in Las Vegas,” said Chief Fansler. “Some people feel that living in a small town is a safety blanket, but people travel to other areas where many of these incidents occur. Before folks are in those unfortunate circumstances, we want to give them some tools for what to do to protect themselves as well as those around them.”
