Lady Panther Named Region 8/FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week

Congratulations to SFSC Volleyball player Jeysamar Velez who has been named the Region 8/FCSAA Defensive Player of the week. Velez, a freshman defensive specialist (DS) from Orlando, Fla., averaged 6.3 digs per set with 88 total digs for the week and continues to lead Region 8 in digs per set with 6.6. After tallying 14 digs in the first match of the week against Florida College on Sept. 26, she had three straight matches with 20 plus digs including 29 vs. Florida State College Jacksonville on Sept. 30 to punch another entry into the 25 dig club.

Sophomore Sarah Castillo also joined this week’s 25 dig club with 26 digs vs. Florida State College Jacksonville on Sept. 30.  Congratulations to Lady Panther Sarah Castillo!
