Brain Bowl Results Oct. 20-22

Over the weekend, two Brain Bowl teams traveled to the College of Central Florida in Ocala to compete in the 5th Annual Erik Korray Open against one high school and nine state colleges—22 teams and 79 players altogether. Both teams included three returning members and four new members.

South Florida Orange were 8-3, ranked 6th overall and 4th in their division.  The team comprised of Matt Daniels (#22), Josh Gurll (#67), Juan Perez (#37), and Blaine Wallace (#20). They lost their first three rounds and didn’t look back winning the remaining eight. They outscored their opponents 2625 points to 1350 points.

South Florida Black were 3-8, ranked 17th overall and 8th in their division. The team comprised of Rubi Barajas (#46), Emily Beard (#29), and Brandon Brignoni (#66). One of their wins was the last round which they won 170-25.

They really enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to their competition at Valencia College-West for the 21st Delta Burke Tournament on November 10 and 11. If you get a chance, please recognize these scholars, along with other team members who could not attend this past weekend – Caroline Bowden, Joshua Clayton, Petyon Dodd, Anthony Hernandez, Annette Mondragon, and Hayley Thompson.
