Lady Panthers Cross Country Team Finishes Season 2017

Folger crosses the finish line.

The SFSC Lady Panther Cross Country team braved the cold as they competed in the NJCAA National Championships held in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  Upon arrival on Thursday, Nov. 9, the ladies completed their first workout while the temperature was 17 degrees.  On Friday during the course practice run, the ladies and coaches prepared for Saturday’s race in temperatures that got down as low as 7 degrees with the wind chill.  On Saturday, the day of the meet, mother nature warmed it up a bit but added some light rain as the Panthers raced around the track at Lakeside Municipal golf course in rainy 34 degree weather.

On race day, the Panthers were paced by Kamryn Folger with a 22:14, followed by Lexy Barraza 22:49, and Lily Addison with a time of 22:55.  Brenda Miramontes  finished at 23:33 followed by Sarahi Rivera at 24:22. Rounding out the Lady Panther times were  Mariah Turgeon with a 24:34 and Contessa Egan with a 24:44.

The Panthers came home with a team finish of 40th overall, while bunching their times individually by finishing between 238th and 292nd.
