Open Enrollment for Employee Benefits Ends Oct. 28

employee-benefits-72Just a reminder that open enrollment for employee benefits is going on now and ends Friday, Oct. 28. Each October, SFSC employees choose their benefits provided by the Florida College System Risk Management Consortium (FCSRMC). This year, just as last year, employees select their benefits online, through the FBMC website. Other voluntary benefits are also available during open enrollment.

Any changes made during the open enrollment period will take effect on  Jan. 1, 2017.  It is incumbent on employees to choose their plans by going online to the FBMC website.  Follow the steps below to select your benefits. (Click the black “continue reading” button for the complete instructions.)

STEP ONE:  Preparation and Review

Employees can find open enrollment plan information for 2017 on Panther Central. Click the Human Resources link on the left side of the screen. At the next screen, you will find documents explaining each plan under Benefit Documents. Before enrolling for 2017 benefits online with FBMC, employees should review carefully the benefit plans and information contained in these documents.

  1. Florida Blue PPO Plan 03769 – New college-paid plan
  2. Florida Blue PPO Plan   3562 – Current plan –  Employees may continue with this plan with no benefit changes in 2017 with a $20 per month pre-tax employee contribution through payroll deduction.
  3. Florida Blue PPO Plan 03359 – HRA, current plan, college paid  (no benefit changes in 2017)

 STEP TWOEnroll for 2017 Benefits

Open enrollment began on Oct. 17 and ends Oct. 28.  Log into your your account at the FBMC website to choose your 2017 benefits as soon as open enrollment begins. Attempting a login early will ensure you are able to access the website. The FCSRMC has partnered with FBMC to automate employee benefits administration for all consortium members.

  • If you are adding or enrolling a spouse or dependents for the first time to your health plan you must upload the required documentation listed on the Dependent Verification form at the time of enrollment.
  • Unum – Life/AD&D and Supplemental Life/AD&D as well as Dependent Life information is online for your review and/or cancellation only.  If you want to increase/decrease your Supplemental Life/AD&D amount or enroll in Dependent Life, please contact Human Resources for further assistance.
  • If you are currently enrolled in the DV Plan (for those employees who have other primary health coverage) you must go online to FBMC to decline health coverage and enroll in the dental and vision plans for 2017.

 STEP THREE:   Review additional the SFSC voluntary benefits below that are available to full-time employees.

Sick Leave Pool – If you have not previously joined the Sick Leave Pool, please use the Sick Leave Pool Application located in Panther Central to get started. You must have a balance of 96 hours of accrued sick leave to join, 16 of which will be contributed to the pool.  Members of the Sick Leave Pool are eligible for up to 320 hours from the pool for a catastrophic illness once all accrued sick and annual leave hours are depleted.

Cafeteria Plan/Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for Current Plan Members – Employees who are currently in the Custom Benefit FSA must go online at FSA Online during open enrollment to enroll for 2017.  You must be registered to gain access to the secure website. For additional information on flexible spending accounts, please go to FSA Information or contact Human Resources. A representative from Custom Benefits will be on the SFSC Highlands Campus in the first floor conference room in Bldg. I (HR) on Thursday, Oct. 27, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., to assist new enrollees.

 Voluntary Benefits Schedule:  The following voluntary providers of insurance products (life, hospital, and disability) will be on campus on the following dates to discuss their products for 2017 with interested employees (Bldg. I conference room):

Custom Benefit Services – Oct. 27,  9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for FSA and Allstate Insurance Products

Miscellaneous:  The open enrollment period is also a good time to review and update your terminal leave beneficiaries or start a tax-sheltered investment plan for retirement.
