The Security Tea – August 2026

Stop. Look. Verify. Don't let pressure make the decision for you.

Cybercriminals don’t always hack systems, sometimes they try to hack trust.

Social engineering is when attackers use pressure, fear, urgency, or curiosity to trick people into clicking links, sharing information, approving requests, or letting someone into a secure space.

🛡️ Watch for common tactics:

  • Urgent messages demanding immediate action
  • Fear-based threats about accounts, payments, or legal trouble
  • Unexpected calls, texts, or emails asking for sensitive information
  • Fake support offers for problems you didn’t report
  • Requests that feel unusual, emotional, or out of normal process

Before you click, download, respond, or disclose information: Stop. Look. Verify.

Use a trusted communication method to confirm the request before taking action.

This month’s Security Tea: Don’t let pressure make the decision for you. Pause, verify, and guard the gate.
