During a ceremony on Tuesday, June 3 on the SFSC Highlands Campus, 16 Adult Education students were inducted into the SFSC Chapter of the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS).
The students are: Kyra Berndt, Maria Colmenares, Adela Camacho, Ojameson Destin, Wilson Florvilus, Tyler Freeman, Laura Gongor-Benitez, Kaylee Kwitowski, Gerson Maquin, Gloria Martinez, Manuel Rivero Sr., Josline Saint Germain, Angel Simmons, Ricardy Toussaint, Alisa Tucciarone, and Sacha Ugueto.
“These outstanding students have earned this national recognition through their leadership, advocacy, and resilience in overcoming adversity,” said Sari Crews, SFSC Adult Education Recruitment and Retention coordinator.
The students who were nominated to the honor society are either enrolled in SFSC’s GED® Prep or the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program.
The NAEHS recognizes the hard work and dedication of adult education students, enhances their employment opportunities, creates ambassadors for local programs, and raises awareness about the transformative power of adult education.
“The NAEHS’ mission comes to life as we celebrate the determination, resilience, and achievements of our learners,” Crews said. “Being inducted into NAEHS is not just about what they’ve achieved, but also about the potential they hold to uplift our community. They are our future leaders, role models, and ambassadors of lifelong learning.”
During the ceremony, the inductees were pinned by their loved ones and received their NAEHS certificates from Courtney Green, SFSC Adult Education director.
