Last weekend, the SFSC Brain Bowl Team traveled to Chicago to compete in the NAQT CCCT (Community College Championship Tournament). In the preliminaries, the team faced Pensacola State College, Santa Fe College, Jefferson Community and Technical College A Team (Kansas), Wallace State Community College (Alabama), and Johnson County Community College (Kansas) and were 1-4. However, in the re-bracketing, they faced Florida Gateway College, Pensacola State College, Jefferson Community and Technical College B Team (Kansas), Garden City Community College (Kansas), South Georgia State College, Valencia College B Team and Valencia College C Team. Their final standing was 6-5, ranking 17th overall with 1650 total points. Valencia A won the overall tournament.

Individually, Mathew Daniel was our top scorer ranking 22nd in the preliminaries and 19th overall, followed by Juan Perez (32nd), Rubi Barajas (72nd), Carolina Bowden (86th) and Josh Gurll (100th). There were 111 players competing.

The SFSC Brain Bowl team’s season is over as they did not qualify for the FCSAA State Brain Bowl Tournament being held next week at Chipola College in Marianna. But they will continue practicing and helping out at the concession stand for several softball and baseball games.
