Athletics Action Over the Break

In softball action Thursday, March 8, the Lady Panthers lost a doubleheader to Florida Southwestern College by the scores of 14 -6 and 15-0. On Tuesday, March 13, the Lady Panthers split a doubleheader with Hillsborough Community College, winning game one 5-0 and losing game two 8-0.  Last Thursday, March 15, the Panthers lost a doubleheader to the State College of Florida, Manatee/Sarasota by scores of 11-1 and 8-5 in extra innings. Next up: the Lady Panthers 8-26 (2-6) will host St. Petersburg College Tuesday, March 20 for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.

Congratulations to Panther sophomore outfielder Adam Mitchell for being named the FCSAA player of the week. Mitchell hit .667 for the week.

On the field, the Panther baseball team won two out of three against Florida Southwestern College.  The Panthers won game one on Saturday, March 10 by the score of 4-0. On Monday, March 12, the Panthers dropped  game two in Fort Myers by the score of 2-1. On  Monday, the Panthers bounced back to win the series by the defeating Florida Southwestern College 6-3.  On Wednesday, March 14, the Panthers opened a new conference series against the State College of Florida losing game one 7-2 on Wednesday and dropping game two on Saturday, March 17, 15-4. Next up: the Panthers 16-16 (3-5) will travel to Bradenton for game three of the conference series tonight, March 19 for a 6 p.m. start.
