Building Reminders

Building Number 680 The streets throughout the Highlands Campus of South Florida State College now have names and signs, and buildings are in the process of receiving numbers, but the building lettering system will remain intact. Building B (Cornelius Center) is still Building B and course schedules will still list building letters.

Building Y (Library) will still have the designation as 600 W. College Drive and the main address for the Highlands Campus will remain 600 W. College Drive, Avon Park, FL 33825. Employees will still use this address in all communications and correspondence, and all mail and packages will be delivered to the same locations as they are now.

This project was completed at the request of the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. The main purpose is to provide specific destinations (addresses) for first responders in emergency situations.

The street names are as follows:

Enlightenment Circle (Buildings B, C-1, C-2, E, F, G; Alan Jay Wildstein Center for Performing Arts; Panther Gym; Pool; University Center)
Integrity Street (Buildings T, T-1; Criminal Justice Academy; Public Safety Academy; Fire and Rescue Training; Fire Tower; HSEC)
Community Court (Future site of Saxon Field House, Softball Field, Baseball Field)
Learning Way (Buildings K-1, N, O; Restrooms; Highlands Career Institute)
Excellence Avenue (Buildings M, R-1, R-2, H, I, J, S; Chillers)
Accountability Street (Future site of student dorm facility)
Responsibility Court (Building P)
Lake Glenada Road (Building X, Loading Dock)

Eventually, GPS systems will be enabled to direct individuals to precise building locations, so if your office or classroom is on the Highlands Campus, please make a note of your building number in case an emergency should occur.
