A Note from Don Kesterson

Hello SFSC Family,

United Way of Central Florida logoIt is time again to kick off our annual campaign to support the United Way of Central Florida’s (UWCF) mission to improve lives and strengthen our community. The UWCF believes that every child should be provided the opportunity to meet their potential in school and life, that everyone should have a fighting chance to support themselves and their families, and that no one can do their best at work or school if they are hungry, sick, or in pain.

The United Way partners locally with 12 different agencies to provide funding for 17 unique services. The most critical needs focus on education, income, health, and basic needs. Any monetary donations provided help our community to Respond, Recover, Reimagine, and Rebuild in these unprecedented times. For more information, click the link: United Way of Central Florida.

SFSC’s 2024 campaign goal is $5,000. For those who already give through a payroll deduction, you do not have to do anything to continue your gift unless you would like to make a change (increase or decrease) to your current donation amount.

Giving options include payroll deduction, a one-time gift through a credit card, or a bill-me option. If someone lives or works in Hardee or DeSoto County and would like to make a donation toward either of these counties, just complete the designation portion on the pledge form and write either Hardee County or DeSoto County and the UWCF Highlands County Manager will make sure those donations go where you request. Just complete the UWCF Pledge Form and submit the document to the Office of Human Resources.

The United Way campaign begins on Wednesday, Feb. 7 and we ask that any new donations or changes be made by Friday, Feb. 23 to allow changes to be done for the February end-of-month payroll. If not received by this date, the deduction will be submitted to begin during the next payroll.
