Preserving Legacy, Embracing Change

The Hotel Jacaranda was purchased by the Foundation in 1984 to provide dorm rooms to our students who were attending, at the time, SFJC. Over the years, the Jac has welcomed not only our students who have lived within her walls but many guests who have traveled from all over the world and stayed in our beloved historical hotel.

We are grateful for what the Jac has done and the purpose it has had for us over these past 40 years, but are now looking into the future to see what other possibilities may be available to further support and provide educational opportunities for our community. Recognizing the needs of our students, we want to offer a dorm location where they can walk to classes without relying on other means of transportation. Some of our students come to the College and stay at the Jac and cannot drive back and forth to class. Many have bikes or now electric scooters, but the path to get to campus isn’t always ideal when traveling along Highway 27, not to mention inclement weather.

The real estate agency that is currently listing the Jac is People’s Choice Realty Services, LLC in Tampa, which specializes in the sale of hotels and facilities that have historical significance.

We hope that there is someone who will carry on the legacy of the Jac and continue to build upon what the Foundation has done over the years, to continue her legacy for generations to come.
