Employee Benefits: Open Enrollment and System Downtime

SFSC’s Open Enrollment for employees is a once-a-year opportunity to review and make changes to your state group insurance coverage. Open Enrollment begins on Monday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. ET and closes on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. ET.

All changes to your coverage must be made online in People First. Download your Benefit Statement under the Insurance Benefits tile. You may make changes as many times as needed during the Open Enrollment period. Elections are final on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. ET. All changes take effect as of Jan. 1, 2026.

For questions, see MyBenefits or contact Becki Lowery, benefits specialist, at ext. 7419.

Although SFSC will not hold a State of Florida Health Benefits Fair onsite, Fairs will be available at Polk State College in Winter Haven on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and at Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers on Friday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please note: the People First system will be unavailable from Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. ET through Sunday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. ET. The downtime is necessary to prepare for the 2026 plan year Open Enrollment. The Insurance Benefits module (benefits screens) will remain unavailable until the Open Enrollment benefit statement process is completed. It is expected to be available again by Monday, Oct. 6 at noon ET.
