Phi Theta Kappa Earns Kudos in Spring 2026

SFSC’s Tau Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has reported a long list of accomplishments during spring 2026.

Lizbeth Ortiz Perez and Mya Ervin were named to the 2026 All-Florida Academic Team. Members of the Team are students enrolled at Florida’s public state and community colleges for their academic excellence, leadership, and service to their community. Students are chosen based on a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Kamilyann Rodriguez was selected as a 2026 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholar and will receive a $1,300 scholarship in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service.

Deeanna Windham was selected to the All USA Workforce Team. The Team honors top scorers in Florida for workforce-bound students. Criteria for this award is 3.5 or higher GPA, leadership, service, and community involvement. Students named to this Team usually plan to go directly into a career after earning an associate degree.

At the PTK Regional Conference on Feb. 1 in Melbourne, Fla., chapter president Kamilyann Rodriguez was selected as a Sunshine Scholarship winner of $500 and received the Regional Distinguished Officer Award. PTK member Margarita Mascorro was also recognized for her art piece, “Illuminated Letter.” Chapter advisor, Renee LaDue, received the Regional Distinguished Advisor Award.

At PTK’s International Catalyst Conference, March 26-28, in Baltimore, Md., Rodriguez was honored as a Coca-Cola All-Academic Team Scholar. SFSC President Fred Hawkins received a PTK International Award for new college presidents, a reflection of the strong culture of excellence at SFSC. LaDue was further honored with a Distinguished Advisor Award at the international level, a testament to her unwavering commitment to our students.

On March 31, the Tau Epsilon Chapter held its Spring Induction Ceremony, welcoming 30 new members into the chapter. The evening celebrated academic excellence, leadership, and service. Dr. Marcy Everest, SFSC political science professor, provided an inspiring keynote address. Members who completed 15 hours of PTK service were awarded stoles and cords in recognition of their dedication.

“We are grateful for the support of SFSC administration, faculty, and staff who make these accomplishments possible,” Rodriguez said. “Congratulations to all Tau Epsilon members on an outstanding year.”
